As Nigeria as a nation sate clocks 56 on the 1st of October, the federal government has indicated that the celebration shall be on a low key to reflect the costs recent economic reality of the country.
The Minister of Information, Alhaji Lai Mohammed has been asked to draw a programme that will not be too elaborate and to reduce the razzmatazz that had attended the independence anniversary celebration in the time past.
The federal government had noted that while it calls for celebration that the nation has survived all manner of challenges and yet it has remained one strong indissoluble entity, the socio-economic reality of this time calls for prayers and sober reflection.
It will be recalled that the Minister of Finance Mrs. Adeosun had recently declared that the country has slipped into recession, but it will not be a permanent economic condition as things will brighten up in the last quarter of the year.
