Maiduguri – Scores of people are reported to have been killed in Dalori and Walori villages, on the outskirts of Maiduguri, following attacks by Boko Haram on Saturday night.
According to Premium Times, the attacks took the villages by surprise at around 19:00.
The spokesperson of the Nigerian Army in the city, Colonel Mustapha Anka, confirmed the attacks. He however, could not give more details.
Residents, including students of the University of Maiduguri, were said to have scampered for safety while the gunfire lasted and explosion rocked the area, Punch reported on Sunday.
The report quoted sources as saying Boko Haram insurgents usually mounted surprise attacks at that hour of the day, as they had studied the movement of the military.
