Murder: Gunmen Kill Ex-councilor In Nasarawa

Gunmen, suspected to be Fulani herdsmen on Monday night allegedly shot and killed a former Supervisory Councilor for social services in Keana local government area of Nasarawa state, Honourable Bala Ilafo.

Report from local sources reveal that the assailants armed with sophisticated weapons had invaded the residence of a neighbour to the deceased, dispossessing them of their belongings before the ex-councilor was shot at close range in his attempt to engage the gunmen.
LEADERSHIP further learnt that the herdsmen had trailed the deceased’s neighbor from a market where he was said to have sold some cows with an undisclosed sum of money on him.
Executive Chairman of Keana local government council, Mustapha Eladoga, who confirmed the incident said that council authorities had written to the appropriate quarters for necessary action.
Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO of the Nasrawa state command, ASP Ismaila Numan, when contacted on phone said the incident was a robbery attack and not ethnic clash as being insinuated in some quarters.
He pointed out that investigation into the matter had commence with a view to bringing the perpetrators to book.
